We are excited to introduce two new Admiralty House team members: Kelsey Vinnicombe and Abby Crews!
Kelsey Vinnicombe, Museum Interpreter |
Kelsey is a recent graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. Kelsey has a bachelor of science degree in cell and molecular biology (Honours) with a minor in biochemistry. At Memorial, Kelsey was involved with the Biology undergraduate society as fourth year representative as well as several MUCEP positions with various professors. Kelsey has also been a long-time refreshment area volunteer at Canadian Blood Services.
Kelsey has always had a deep passion for learning and teaching. She has been a tutor since junior high, continuing throughout high school and university. In the fall, Kelsey will be returning to Memorial University to pursue her bachelor of education degree in intermediate/secondary education. She is extremely excited to turn her passion into a career.
Being born and bred in the Goulds, Kelsey is familiar with the neighbouring community of Mount Pearl. She played rugby with Dogs Rugby Football Club for 6 years and holds this time dear to her heart. Kelsey has several friends and family members who are from Mount Pearl, so she is very excited to learn more about the history of their roots!
Abby Crews, Museum Interpreter |
Abby is a Visual Arts student from Conception Bay South, and is going into the third year of her BFA program at Memorial University’s Grenfell Campus. Her practice focuses mainly on drawing, print media, and digital media, but has recently begun expanding into the field of photography. She has also spent several summers in Québec, as a part of both French immersion programs and summer work programs.
Outside of the arts, Abby also has an interest in science and nature—particularly entomology (the study of insects), which she practices as a hobby, much to the dismay of those who aren't so fond of creepy-crawlies.
Abby is excited to have the opportunity to work at Admiralty House, and is looking forward to having the chance to meet visitors, answer questions, and help out with activities at the museum!
We are excited to have Kelsey and Abby start working on Projects here at Admiralty House! Please check out our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (@admiraltymuseum) for more about Admiralty House Communications Museum. We are open seven days a week from 9 AM to 5 PM!
