Admiralty House Communications Museum is operated year-round as the sole heritage institution for the City of Mount Pearl since 1997. Our mission is to preserve, research, educate and promote the history of H.M. Wireless Station St. John’s from the advent of wireless telegraphy to its present-day operations as a museum. We aim to inspire an appreciation of local history through engaging programs and exhibitions that focus not only on early wireless communication, naval history, and Mount Pearl but also on special historic events affecting the larger community.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic emerging professional who want to diversify their skills and can assist in the development and delivery of temporary exhibits, programs, performances, and special commemorative projects. Reporting to the Museum Manager, the Assistant Manager is responsible for opening and closing the museum accordance to the set hours of operation, accepting admissions, answering inquiries, assisting with installation and removal of temporary exhibits and delivering programs and special events.
Qualifications:
• A recent graduate of a Masters or certificate program related to Museums, Education or Business.
• Meets criteria for Young Canada Works Building Careers in Heritage
Required Skills and Experience:
• Demonstrated historical research skills and experience accessing archival collections
• Experience with collections management software
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Capable of working independently and in a team environment.
Successful applicants will possess strong written and oral communications skills, the capability to work independently and with a team, experience with Microsoft Office, and have an interest in education, museum studies, or marketing. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as previous experience with children and the public, are strong assets.
