Pigeon Post Episode 7!

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great day so far. Today is a great day because it's time for a new episode of Pigeon Post! Today's episode is all about the Duke of Edinburgh, His Royal Highness, Prince Philip.

Admiralty House was once a top secret HM Wireless Station during the First World War, commissioned by the British Admiralty in 1915, and over 80 years later in 1997, it was officially opened to the public as a museum, with opening remarks from Prince Philip himself. As you listen to this week's episode, you will realize that Prince Philip had a very active naval career, so it seemed only natural to have him come to the opening of the museum on behalf of the British Admiralty.

In the years since, Admiralty House Communications Museum has been thriving in the community and has continued to find new ways to engage people, but this week's episode takes you back to the very beginning. You will hear from Gloria Pearson, who was the chair of the Admiralty House Rehabilitation Committee, Minister Julie Bettney, who was the MHA for Mount Pearl at the time, the then Mayor of Mount Pearl, Dave Denine and, of course, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

As always, thanks for tuning in, and we'll see you again soon!
