The First of Many: Introducing our Summer Team!

We are excited to introduce our new summer Research Assistant: Bryan Poirier.

Originally from Moncton, New Brunswick, Bryan moved to Newfoundland to study history at Memorial University. Bryan recently graduated from his bachelors with a major in History and a Minor in folklore. Come September, Bryan will be starting his masters in history under the supervision of Neil Kennedy. Bryan’s research interests are Acadian History, Indigenous History and the history of the Slave Trade.

Previously, Bryan worked at the Centre d’Études Acadienne Anselme Chiasson, as a project manager; Bryan also worked as a Musician at Le Pays de la Sagouine, a living history tourist attraction located in Bouctouche, New Brunswick. This summer Bryan will be stepping into the role of a research assistant for the project, “Stories From the Station” that tells the personal  stories of those who worked at the wireless station. The research assistantship was made possible by Young Canada Works.

Outside of work, Bryan can be found playing traditional music at various pubs throughout the city.

Welcome, Bryan!
