Over the course of our Frosty Friday posts, we've spent lots of time looking at everyone's favourite events over the years. This week we want to take a moment to thank the people that make these events happen.
The Frosty Festival doesn't just happen overnight. It is a labour of love and only occurs because of the dedication and commitment of thousands of volunteers over the years. From the organizing committees and Board of Directors, to those who volunteer to support the festival, to the community organizations who plan and host many of the events - we thank you.
"I was just amazed especially with the people who put their time, energy, and love into it, because it was volunteer. People took time off work, saved their annual leave holidays from their place of work, to work or volunteer at the Frosty Festival” - Dave Lythgoe, 2020

[On why people volunteer] “They know it’s a great idea, and its worked so well over the years, and they know that this particular group did a good job so “We will do as good a job or better” and they want to see that as a success, that everything is looked after and people come out and have a good time. Then they feel great, "I’m a part of that".” - Patrick Walsh, 2020

“One of the executives, Megan. I say Megan ‘Do you have a home to go to’, because you go there at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and you go back at 12 o’clock at night and the executive and the same people they’re still there and you pick up coffee and doughnuts for say a 5K run at 6 o’clock in the morning, and you drop it off at 6 o’clock [PM] and they’re still there. It’s just a dedication” - Dave Lythgoe, 2020

[On what makes the Frosty Festival a success] “Definitely the volunteers, the people who volunteer, they give up a lot of their time and efforts just to make Mount Pearl shine.” - Agnes Murphy, 2020
